Darfur, SUDAN: General Martin Luther Agwai (L), new commander of the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS), greets a representative of the Sudan Liberation Army/Movement (SLA/M) Minni Minawi faction at the Kor Abeche mission group site in southern Darfur, 22 July 2007. Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir has accused US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown of exaggerating Darfur's problems in order to hide their 'failure' in Iraq. Sudan has accepted a planned deployment of a joint United Nations-African Union peacekeeping force to replace an under-funded and ill-equipped AU force currently operating there.
